Addiction is a fallen angel, though demon is a much more widely used term. When a third of the angels split off from the heavenly legion, she went with them. And as the new regime was created, each demon was given an assignment, their own personal sin. That is how Addiction got her name.

She specializes in vices and crutches, encouraging all the sinful things that humans find themselves unable to live without. Anything good can be made bad and Addiction's goal is to prove that. Well, at least that's what she has to do to keep herself out of Hell.

Hell is called a pit of fire for a reason. The demons that joined Lucifer didn't get rewarded for their choice. Instead, they were given their assignments as a way to keep them in line; keep them doing what they ought to be doing. If they fail to maintain that balance, they are thrown into the pit, left to burn for eternity. In fact, an immediate reminder of their betrayal was that their wings were forcibly removed, leaving her with two twin, five inch scars on her shoulder blades. She was then branded, a mark burned into the back of her neck as a sign of who she belonged to. She thought she was gaining freedom from an oppressive god, and instead she only knew more slavery.

Oh well, at least this way she gets to mostly do whatever she wants. Besides, if she's going down, she's taking the whole damn world with her.

Addiction is a mythological original character by my own imagination. She's a strange combination of stereotype and biblical demons, a mix of the Screwtape Letters in there, too. She is meant to lure humans into traps, convince them they 'need' their addictions and in return for every soul she traps this way, she is released from having to return to Hell. It isn't a place anyone wants to be.

Demons of her species are red-skinned beings, attractive and strong. She has curled, ram-like horns protruding just above her temples and irises black as night. She's capable of masking her appearance, making it more appealing to humans should she need to, but the more she is trapped or in particularly carnal situations, the facade tends to melt away, showing her true and dangerous nature. Though she lost her wings for her treason, she was granted an ability by Lucifer, as many demons were. She can 'teleport' from place to place if need be. All demons have the ability to camouflage completely, making themselves invisible to anyone, but other demons and angels.
